Instagram 2.0 Features High-Res Photos and New Filters

Fans of the camera-friendly app, Instagram, can rejoice with the news of version 2.0 being recently released. The new version boasts higher-resolution photos, new filters and the ability to turn on and off borders on photos.

By far, the most requested features from both pros and amateurs alike has been higher resolution photos. Instagram increased their photo size from 612×612 to 1936×1936 on the iPhone 4. Read more about all the new features in version 2.0 on their website.

Making Portraits Pop in your Slideshows

One of the top design-related questions we get asked by ProShow users is how they can make their portrait-oriented photos look their best in a slideshow. Since almost all shows nowadays are formatted to fit a 16:9 screen, a portrait photo doesn’t fill the frame very well and can leave black margins on either side of your image.

If you don’t like the look of these black margins, try adding a background or slide style to your portrait photo to give it a more professional and polished appearance.

The World’s Largest Photo Libraries

We recently came across this article on the 1000memories website that uncovered some amazing facts about where the largest photo libraries are housed online.

If you take a look at the graphic below you’ll see that Facebook dwarfs even the Library of Congress as the largest photo library online. It hosts 4% of all photos EVER taken and this year alone, over 70 billion photos will be upload to the site.

Pretty amazing to see where people are sharing their photos and how Facebook’s dominance continues to grow. Do you upload many of your photos to Facebook to share with friends and family?
