1. Capturing Photos in Low Light: Chances are you’ll be taking a majority of your pics at night since that’s when most Halloween festivities commence. Many scenes look better in low light rather than blasting them with a full flash. If your camera has a flash level option, choose ½ or ¼ for a softer glow. For great low-light images, increase your ISO, slow down your shutter speed and use a larger aperture. Read more about how this is done and learn more helpful Halloween photography tips on the Digital Photography School blog.
2. Finding Good Halloween Music: As a slideshow creator, you know your soundtrack can make or break your entire production! Make sure you pick a song that’s perfect for the mood you’re trying to create. Here are a few of our favorite songs, perfect for Halloween slideshows.
a. Thriller – Michael Jackson
b. Monster Mash – Bobby “Boris” Pickett & the Crypt-Kickers radio
c. I Put a Spell on You – Screaming Jay Hawkins
3. Use Sound Effects: Normally sound effects in a slideshow can be a bit cheesy. But for Halloween, it’s perfectly OK to add a few fun sound effects to add to the excitement of your slideshow. Sounds like thunder and lightning, a shrilling scream and chains rattling make for great additions to your show. In ProShow, simply add the sound effect as a Slide Sound to any slide in your show. It will play over your soundtrack at the exact moment you specify.
4. Add Special Visual Effects: Adding special effects to your photos and videos can really amp-up your Halloween slideshow. We’ve listed out a few great slide styles and transitions that are perfect for adding a bit of spooky fun to your ProShow slideshows.
a. Old Film Projector – StylePack Volume 2: This style adds bits of dust and scratches to your photos and makes them appear to be flickering.
b. Clouds – Transition Pack Volume 1: Use this transition to give your photos a spooky feel. This transition makes dark clouds swoop across your photos.
c. Smoke – Transition Pack Volume 1: Another great transition for Halloween slideshows. Creates the look of eerie puffs of smoke moving across your photos.
d. Falling Leaves – Freebie Give-away Transition: Our falling leaves transition is perfect for a Halloween or Fall slideshow. For ProShow Gold and Producer users, click here to download it free!
5. Email, post to Facebook, or burn to DVD: Once you’re done creating your show, get it out there for your friends, family and co-workers to see. When uploading to Facebook, try tagging friends and family that are in the slideshow to get it seen by even more people!
