Photodex Provides Innovative Display Technology for Photography Coverage at the 2012 Olympics
Today we’re excited to announce that the USA TODAY sports media group is leveraging key elements in ProShow Producer to display real-time running multimedia slideshows showcasing live photos of their coverage of the 2012 Olympics.
ProShow Producer allows the team to create a looping multimedia slideshow display to play on several, large screens outside the main press centre in London. As photographers return from their post covering an event, newly captured photos are instantly added to the live multimedia presentation to showcase the freshest photos from the ground.
This innovative display style is made possible by a ‘Live Show’ feature in the software which enables photographers to set up a custom hot folder and add new content on-the-fly to a live multimedia slideshow either through wifi or directly from a computer. As new photos are added to the hot folder, they instantly appear in a streaming slideshow.

“We are thrilled to introduce this new display technology at the London Games thanks to the help from our friends at Photodex,” said Bob Rosato, chief operating officer of US Presswire. “The live photo streaming takes sports photojournalism to a new dimension, and we’re excited to be offering this as a part of our coverage of the Olympics this summer.”
Photodex president and founder, Paul Schmidt, echoed these sentiments, stating “The ability to display photos at this global event in real-time is an important aspect of covering live events. We’re honored that our slideshow tools were chosen by the USA TODAY sports media group and that a little part of our company is present at the 2012 Olympics.”
